Cold Lake Event Centre

Where culture is honoured and celebrated

Bridging Culture and Community

The Cold Lake Event Centre, the first of its kind in the region, was designed to host all major events in the city, becoming a key landmark for the community. Positioned as a bridge between the existing casino and hotel, it was built on Indigenous land, with a strong focus on cultural representation. As the interior designer under my principal design lead, I lead the creative design, material selection and 3D rendering. I was also involved in collaborative planning, including reviewing and marking up construction drawings. We worked closely with the Denae people to incorporate significant relics, artifacts, and meaningful photographs, ensuring the space honored their heritage. When presented to the client group, the design moved them to tears, underscoring the profound cultural significance of the event centre. Although I transitioned out of the project before it was completed, my work helped establish the foundation for this impactful and culturally significant venue, setting the stage for its continued development.

Renders

These 3D renders bring the Cold Lake Event Centre to life, showcasing the design’s cultural integration and modern functionality. I created them using SketchUp and Enscape. The renders highlight key architectural features and the thoughtful incorporation of cultural elements.
